Mac users: Upcoming changes to VPN client software
Note that the date for this upgrade has changed to Oct. 9
What work is being done?
An upgrade to new VPN hardware is expected to occur soon. VPN client software is what you use to connect to the Fermilab network from off site. A new version of VPN client software is required to work with the new hardware.
What is the impact to you?
A new version of VPN client software must be installed on your computer. Failure to update your VPN software will result in the inability to log in to the Fermilab network when you are off site.
All centrally managed Mac OSX laptops that are communicating correctly with the Casper service have been updated with the correct version of software, Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client version 3.0.08057.
When will the work occur?
On or around October 9. [note new date] We will update you with date and time when they are determined.
What do you need to do?
Please check to ensure you are using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client version 3.0.08057 by following the instructions at https://fermi.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0010597.
If you have a different version of VPN software, please contact the Service Desk at 630-840-2345 or at the website, https://fermi.service-now.com/.
For those who do not have the current VPN client software and wish to install it themselves, we have enabled self-install for the Install Cisco VPN package in Casper Self Service. See instructions for installing at https://fermi.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0010596.
If after your VPN client is upgraded, you encounter problems accessing network drives, please see this article describing how to resolve this problem at https://fermi.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0010602.
