Do I need a OSG or CILogon certificate?

 

Most Fermilab users are eligible for an OSG or CILogon certificates:

Fermilab recommends that staff use CILogon certificates for the various functions requiring certificates. 

 

Functions requiring user to have a CILogon or OSG PKI certificate

 

CILogon certificate uses OSG PKI certificate uses
Web Access: Accessing some Fermilab restricted websites and web services (e.g. various instances of DocDB, some computer security pages) Web Access: Accessing various restricted websites and web services
Email: NOT usable for digitally signing email Digitally signing email

Grid: Accessing grid resouces

Web server administrators: Setting up SSL server for Apache or IIS
(Besides the CILogon certificate, you need an OSG PKI service certificate.)
